A Name Change

Bigstockphoto_water_cooler_1538058In the last 35 years I have worked with one-person start-ups and Fortune 100 companies. I’ve helped market and sell everything from funeral services to Public Key Infrastructure services to business equipment to extremely complex software applications. Sales have ranged from hundreds of dollars to millions of dollars for a single sale.

What’s all this got to do with you? Good question! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending an all day presentation and meeting with Seth Godin and about 50 other entrepreneurs and small business owners from all over the world. It was an extraordinary experience and it renewed my passion for working with small companies and start-ups. I can’t tell you the details about these companies but there were some very bright, creative people in that room that are doing exciting things that many of you will experience one day.

By the end of the meeting, I came away with a renewed focus on working with people just like the fifty people in attendance. Fortune 100 or 500 companies are great but they just don’t do ‘it’ for me. Personally, I’m passionate about helping people create something brand new or working with them to take their business to another level. It’s been that way since I was a teen back in Ohio during the sixties.

So, I’ve changed the name of this blog to Bob Poole’s Water Cooler Hangout and I’m dedicating it to small companies and entrepreneurs. It will be a place where I’ll share my sales and marketing ideas with you and where you can share your own ideas through the comments link at the bottom of each posting. My personal email address is also listed on the blog and I read and answer each one. I’ll continue to riff about the good, the bad and the ugly of the business world (and sometimes the world in general).
