Friday Features For Fourteen August

Last week's Friday Features was a hit so I'll keep on pulling them together for you. Here are some places and people that I enjoy and I hope you'll find them interesting too. By the way, I have no affiliation with any of these companies or sites. If I personally know someone or do have an affiliation, I'll let you know.

Need some new T's for back to school? Stop by Threadless. It is a community-centered store where members of the Threadless community submit T-shirt designs. The designs are put to a public vote and the winners are selected for printing and sold through the online store. Winning designers get a cash prize and you can get some really cool shirts.

What's that? You say you'd rather wear your own designs. Well, here's your answer. Go visit Custom Ink or Zazzle and make your own. Both companies allow you to design and buy other things.

The next place to visit comes with a small warning label. If frank, honest and sometimes profane language bothers you – keep on walking. I enjoy reading Johnny Truant and his blog, "The Economy Isn't Happening." He's both funny and can even be downright inspirational. We did exchange emails once and agreed it was good to meet. And, I'm from Ohio and he's still looking for the road out. I hope you enjoy.

I'm going to give you one of my favorite sites and tools now. It is called Kuler (as in cooler) and it is from Adobe. It is an online place where you can generate all kinds of color combinations for any kind of design. You can even use it to decide what colors to paint your home or feature in your next wedding. There are thousands of themes already there for you to use. I think I'm going to use Grape and Wine Tour in a new site soon. By the way, it is free. You'll thank me later.

"Are you an optimist? Sometimes it seems as though our disagreements—over everything from politics to business to the designated hitter rule—are more serious and more divisive than ever before. People are making emotional, knee-jerk decisions, then standing by them, sometimes fighting to the death to defend their position. And yet, we’re optimists."

This is a quote from the About Us page on ChangeThis. Read it and then begin to read the Manifestos. One of them just might change your life. If it does, it will be your turn to write one.

Have a wonderful weekend!
