How Do You Eat Corn On The Cob?

It seems there are a number of ways to eat corn on the cob. In a poll during last night's cookout, I discovered three different ways among the five adults present. Two like to eat straight across the cob which leaves an interesting squared off look to a thoroughly eaten ear of corn. (Full disclosure – that's my style.) Two other adults favor random bites all over the ear which is the least productive of the methods and leaves something less than a pristine cob. Finally, one person favored beginning on the left side of the ear while rotating it before moving slightly to the right. This also is a productive way of eating the ear of corn and leads to a totally cleaned up cylinder.

Of course, this has nothing to do with sales or marketing. Or, does it? What if you were marketing a new denture adhesive or corn holders – would knowing how people eat their corn help?

Or, maybe this riff has nothing to do with corn and everything to do with knowing your client – knowing them well enough to know how they eat their corn.

How much do you know about your best clients?

  1. I guess it all comes down to how well you know your clients. I will check on their corn eating habits from now on. Thanks for the good advice. BTW, I do not like corn!

  2. Angel-you must have been raised in the mid-west and OD’d on it! Since I wrote this, I’ve heard from several people who claim to eat it vertically held by the bottom! Who knew!
