How Trav Bell Became “The Bucket List Guy”

Today I’m here with Trav Bell, The Bucket List Guy, also known as The Bucket List Coach. He has dedicated his life to helping others become aware and move forward with their bucket life list. Trav acquired his name after a speaking engagement when an engaged listener came up to him after his inspiring talk and said, “You’re the bucket-list guy.” He went home that night and registered the name for his website.

His primary life’s purpose is to help others, but not just assist one person. Trav wants to change society’s thinking of how to live a fulfilling life. “I’ve always wanted to help people, but I’ve never been comfortable with just helping a handful of people. I want to change the narrative around a certain issue; I want to change the conversation.”

The Difference Between a To-Do List and a Bucket List 

Trav comments about our busy lifestyles contributing to our to-do list and creating a time crunch in which we don’t achieve our bucket list items. We talk about how people use “being busy” as a badge of honor. Usually, people don’t start to think about their bucket list items until a significant life event, such as a terminal illness, afflicts their lives. At this point only, their bucket list becomes a priority.

“It’s my job to wake people up before they are given a ‘used by’ date so they can experience more meaningful purpose and fulfillment in their life,” Trav speaks to the lifestyle of living by default instead of living by design. “People are existing and living in this delayed gratification society that we find ourselves in, waiting for the ‘perfect time’ or ‘someday’ to come around.”

COVID Mindset Opportunity 

COVID has allowed people to take a deep global breath and to recalibrate on the meaning, purpose, and path of life. So many people have changed, adapted, and innovated their business to recalibrate their business life to work from home. “The definition of the work-life blend has really been changed, and it’s here to stay.” He believes that your life’s journey should be based on the work to live principle, where your career or business purpose is to fashion and finish your bucket list items.
