I was staring at the screen Friday afternoon trying to decide what to write for the weekend. And, I didn’t feel like writing anything.
But, let me back up a few minutes. I felt like writing a lot of things but I found it impossible to decide. That’s when I knew I needed a vacation. So, I turned off the computer and I took a 2 day vacation. Late yesterday, I decided what I want to say to you.
What are you doing that you don’t want to do? And, if you don’t want to do it then why are you doing it? Or, are you only saying you don’t want to do it but really do want do it? Confused?
Let’s say you hate exercise and the idea of dieting is the last thing you want to do. Well, if you don’t want to do it then don't do it. But, you can’t also say you want to be fitter and weigh less if what it takes is a change in diet and exercise.
You can’t sit in your cubicle and take orders from a boss who has spent his entire career avoiding risk and waiting for retirement and at the same time tell yourself that you don’t want to do it. If you continue to do it then obviously you really do want to do it or you would stop and do something different.
I know. You do it because you have to pay the bills. You have the big house and two kids and all the other stuff. And, that’s why you do it but you really don’t want to.
Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. You do want to and that’s why you will continue to be out of shape, overweight, in a job you hate, in an abusive relationship, living at home with mom and dad, commuting 4 hours a day, on drugs, broke, and all alone — until you decide you don’t want to anymore.
